We spent last weekend up in Portland, ME with one of Alexander's grandma's "Kalima". On Sunday we went to what has become an annual tradition - the Maine Fiber Frolic in Windsor. It's mainly a fibers/knitters fair and there are beautiful items like sweaters, hats, bags of wool, spinning wheels, etc to see and purchase. But the bigger draw for us has been the llama events such as llama precision drill team, llama limbo and the sheepdog show. This was the first year Alexander went and we had a lot of fun. So what does this have to do with adoption? Well, a couple things. In 2006 when we were patiently waiting out our 10-day wait in Yekaterinburg, Russia with Alexander (being overwhelmed as new parents!), Kali went to the Fiber Frolic and purchased one of Alexander's still beloved animals - "llama' (see picture below from our 3rd day home in June 06).
Llama was one of the first animals Alexander became attached to. So this year as we were walking around the booths, Kali and I found the same vendor. Of course I had to get #2 his own llama...he will have so many hand-me-downs (which is great) but a few things he should be able to call his own. Plus it was great fun to intentionally get something for our 2nd child...this was the first purchase and started to make this feel even a little more 'real'.
